Personal Collages // Glory

A few weeks back, I had submitted two collages to Rookie mag in line with their monthly theme, with October's theme being "Glory". I wasn't exactly working with a clear head at the time and thus the first collage came out a little bleh. The email was sent and what was left to do was wait and predict and overthink every possible outcome of this email, the good and the bad.

This morning, I was scrolling through Tumblr and this guy showed up:

What happened next was that I ran downstairs to tell my parents, while I could feel my ears getting warm and that my chest was about to swell up and explode (of happinessss!!!). And then I couldn't stop looking at the page and I forgot my almond croissant burning in the oven.

The first collage: Very messy, I know. I used an old photo found in my mom's stash for this one.

A small glory, but a glory nonetheless.

Haze Runner Movie Poster

This is what I imagine our movie poster for the film, Haze Runner, to be. It's not too serious and dark, but light and simple to hint at the humorous tone of the film!

White; Part II

Another self-initiated continuation project of the previous white sponges artwork, inspired by Carl Andre. This time around, I sort of inverted the original project by having the white sponges form the negative space. It was initially just a curious thought but I finally decided to realise that thought into a physical form. Needless to say, I quite enjoyed the outcome, but I still suck at cutting straight lines for mounting boards..

Haze Runner

Our group chosen the movie genre of "Comedy" for our video assignment and we decided to film The Haze Runner. The film is essentially about two people trying to survive in this hot, barren world by obtaining a can of fresh air. They're also being pursued by those who wish to get the can before them. In the process of being pursued, hilarity ensues and the cat-and-mouse game continues on.

We filmed for a total of 5 hours with the actual film lasting about a mere 4 minutes. Of course, everyone was in good spirits throughout and we wrapped filming after two days.

Hope you enjoy it. Amateur, grainy student films are what power the Youtube community!!

Paper Marbling; Part I

We had a fun experiment with paper marbling the other day. Everyone made their own unique pieces which made me feel the urge to continue this activity at home. Personally, I like the spontaneity of it all and how it feels like capturing galaxies on your paper. Besides, it'll probably be good exercise for me to try new things and embrace the anomalies. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'll be posting up the rest next week. Until our next trip through the "cosmos"!

Blog 4: Facebook Friends

Nowadays, people treat the number of Facebook friends one has as a form of social ranking. However, the number of real friends pale in comparison to the hundreds or thousands of Facebook friends. Real friends accept us for who we  truly are. Thus, we should always choose quality over quantity.
